Abstract:
The December 2018 elections for the Andalusian government resulted in the return of the Spanish far right to the democratic institutions of Spain. In this process of the emergence of the far-right and the political consolidation of Vox, gender issues have been an essential political tool organizationally, electorally, and for activists. Politics, including gender politics, is mediated by affective and emotional components. In this thesis, through an analysis of the Spanish far right (Vox) from 2019 to 2023, and from a feminist and posthumanist theoretical-analytical perspective, I aim to explore and understand how gender, sentiment, and far-right politics are connected, that is, to comprehend the functioning of what I call the far-right gender assemblage. I analyse Vox's gender politics in relation to its affective mobilization, on macro- and micro-political levels, which allows me to recognize the intra-active, relational, and dialogical processes that occur between the party and its far-right activists. The results of this research demonstrate how gender is central to Vox's politics, its relevance as a political and emotional trigger, and the composition of Vox's affective politics as a process in constant negotiation between the sentiments projected by the party and those sensed through activism.
