Research Group on Europe-Asia Pacific Relations (ERAP)

The Asia-Pacific region is one of the most dynamic and emerging areas on the planet, with a constantly growing economy and an increasingly important role in global politics. Understanding this reality is key to the fields of Law and Political Science, which is why the Research Group on Europe-Asia Pacific Relations (ERAP) at UOC is a crucial initiative for research in this field.

The main goal of ERAP is to position the studies of Law and Political Science at the center of the analysis of Asia-Pacific, with a European but not Eurocentric perspective. This means that the group aims to provide a different perspective on the reality of this region, analyzing not only its internal dynamics but also the interregional relations with the European Union and other global actors.

The objectives of the Research Group on Europe-Asia Pacific Relations (ERAP) at UOC are diverse and ambitious. Firstly, the group aims to place the studies of Law and Political Science at the center of the analysis of Asia-Pacific, emphasizing its European dimension and the importance of understanding the interregional relations with the EU and other global actors.

Additionally, ERAP seeks to be a meeting space for experts in International Relations and Political Science of the Asia Pacific, fostering dialogue and debate among the different members. The group aims to provide a platform for analyzing the main political, economic, and social data of the Asia Pacific reality, with the goal of promoting research in this field.

Another purpose of ERAP is to disseminate research through various blog entries, opinion articles, and reports that will be shared across different UOC platforms, such as the blog, Twitter, or newspaper articles. This dissemination will make the knowledge generated by the research accessible to a wide audience.

ERAP also aims to be a space for promoting research projects with other universities or research centers, fostering cooperation and teamwork. Additionally, the group is interdisciplinary, with members from different research fields, which will allow for a more comprehensive and complex analysis of the Asia Pacific reality.

ERAP intends to organize webinars to delve into specific topics related to the Asia Pacific region, as well as provide a space for collaborative work on articles among the members, sharing knowledge and experiences.

Finally, ERAP has the ambition to become a recognized SGR Research Group in the medium term, an accreditation that acknowledges excellence and quality in university research. This aspiration reflects the group's commitment to grow and establish itself as a reference in the study of the Asia Pacific region in the European context.
